OBSERVATORY/ RECIPES – exhibition of utility objects made by Moldovan students from the Technical University in Chisinau

Organizer: Adam Mickiewcz Institute / Culture.pl

Curators: MALAFOR Agata Kulik-Pomorska and Paweł Pomorski

OBSERVATORY / RECIPES is an exhibition showcasing the works produced during workshops for design students that took place in the summer of 2016 under the guidance of Agata Kulik-Pomorska and Paweł Pomorski, the founders of Malafor studio.

The project’s participants were eight Moldovan students from the Technical University of Moldova in Chisinau. Young designers have worked on prototypes of objects referring to the workshop’s main theme, that is “Recipes = Tradition + Usefulness”

In the era of overproduction, the issue of responsibility is becoming more and more urgent, not just in Western Europe. The Moldovan students looked for recipes for projects which use natural materials and traditions of their homeland and inspired by the concept of locality. The project’s leaders wanted to extract the potential from the emerging proposals and to encourage participants to perceive their own strengths in the context of indigenous cultural and economic realities. With vineyards occupying one tenth of Moldova’s total area, the country’s tradition is inseparably linked with wine.Works on display
