We’re starting East of Culture – Different Sounds 2017. Ahead of us many excellent gigs, memorable meetings, inspiring workshops and interesting film screenings. Over 5 festival days, Lublin is going to welcome artists from 14 countries and 3 continents at exclusivec concerts in Poland. Among them, we will hear live such performers as Juno Reactor, Nouvelle Vague, Mulatu Astatke or Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. The festival keeps striving to present the most interesting record labels. This year, we are featuring the Belgian label Crammed Discs, represented by Tuxedomoon, Kasai Allstars feat. Basokin, Skip & Die, Veronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul and Aquaserge. Our line-up also includes such bands as Moulettes, Gromyka and Ventolin. At the festival, we are also going to hear two unforgettable projects by yass music legends – Mikołaj Trzaska and Jerzy Mazzoll. The former, together with Orkiestra Klezmerska Teatru Sejneńskiego is performing live the Orzeł-awarded soundtrack from the movie „Hatred”, whereas Mazzoll & Arhythmic Perfection will present live for the first time material recorded for the album „Out out to lunch”. East of Culture – Different Sounds also presents the most unique artists from the East. We will see: Tbilisi-born Natalie Beridze, Grisly Faye from Kiev and Mustelide who’s coming from the capital of Belarus. Our concert stages are also welcoming two „live” bands – the Georgian Mebo Renard and Ukrainian Tik Tu. Poland’s representation at the festival is complemented by an absolutely phenomenal performer, Wacław Zimpel. In addition, for East of Culture – Different Sounds we have produced a unique music project KATOLUB Orchestra, gathering together artists from Lublin and Katowce. Lublin is represented by the folk band Čači Vorba, whereas Katowice by the combined forces of the avant-garde bands: Lód 9, Hengelo iand Pigeon Break.
