Yegor Zabelov

Yegor Zabelov – Minsk-based buton accordion virtuoso, known in Poland thanks to the Gurzuf duo that repeatedly toured Europe in the few past years.

Founder and leader of the Yegor Zabelov Trio, which uniquely combines the achievements of Gurzuf with the addition of the double bass.

Constantly looking for new means of artistic expression, he fuses punk energy with cutting-edge electronics, Byelorussian folklore with rock music and classical music with jazz harmonies.

A noted film composer, he created score for legendary silent movie „Golem” (1920, dir. Paul Wegner) as well as for Dimitri Kirsanoff’s „Menilmontant”.

Zabelov is also an in-demand theatre music composer – among others he wrote music for the Magdeburg Theatre and for the Doll and Actor Theatre in Opole („Moby Dick”, „Pinocchio”). He also wrote music for theatres in Holland and Slovenia. His recent contribution to the theatre is music for „Hamlet” staged in Minsk.

For the last two years Zabelov has been extensively touring, recording and working on new material with Polish legend of the independent scene – Włodek Kinior Kiniorski (member of among others Izrael, Kinor Sky Orchestra). Their joint record is scheduled for release soon.

Zabelov has been commissioned by the Different Sounds Festival to participate in a joint, international project alongside the members of Lao Che.
