Music IN: Showcase festivals and songwriting camps – panel

During the meeting, the representatives of Music Export Poland and artists experienced with foreign market promotion of their work will discuss issues concerning the formula, role and types of showcase festivals in the world. The panelists will try to answer whether taking part in a festival helps to boos one’s career? They will talk about how to prepare for this kind of performance, what to avoid and what are the criteria of evaluation of performances by the audiences. The next topic will be songwriting camps in Poland and abroad. They will discuss the disadvantages, advantages and costs of participation.

Marek Hojda – board member of ZAiKS (Polish Society of Authors and Composers), graduate of Jazz at AM in Katowice arrangement, composition and vocals classes. He played keyboard instruments in such bands as De Mono, Emigranci, Surzyn Band, Oddział Zamknięty. As an arranger and producer, he also collaborated with Iza Trojanowska, Majka Jeżowska Kapitan Nemom Robert Chojnacki. He owns the recording studio Homar Music.

Grzegorz Kwiatkowski (b.1984) – poet, musician, author of the trilogy “Powinni się nie urodzić” (OFF Press, 2011), and Radość”, Spalanie”, Powinni się nie urodzić revisited – Urodzić” and „Sową” (Biuro Literackie, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017). Fellow of the programme Styria Artist in Residence”  of the government in Styria (2017). Fellow of “Artist in Residence” programme of the Federal Chancellery of Austria and Kulturkontakt Austris association (2016). A fellow of the International Writers’ House in Graz in Austria (2015). Member of the band Trupa trupa. Since 2015, the banbd has been recording for the British label Blue Tapes and X-Ray Records (roster includes Jute Gyte, Tashi Dorji, Mats Gustafsson, Katie Gately). The effect of this cooperation was the album “Headeache”, very well recewived by both Polish and foreign critics. Since 2016, the band has also been associated with the French label Ici d’ailleurs (roster includes Yann Tiersen, Matt Elliott/The Third Eye Foundation, Stefan Wesołowski), which released the remastered version of “Headeache” on a vinyl. On 27 October 2017 the band released another album called Jolly New Songs. It’s an international collaboration between Ici d’ailleurs and Blue Tapes and X-Ray Records.

Buslav – multi-instrumentalist, composer and lyricist. This experienced session musician (member of the house band Cheryl Pepsii Riley in Village Underground, NYC) decided to release his first solo album. The simplicity of form directly introduces the essence of topics and problems he touches upon. Buslav is a project of courage to cross personal limits. It’s a story about emotions, human curiosity and experiences – rendered in sound. Buslav’s debut album was nominated to Fryderyk Awards 2017 for the Debut of the Year and Pop Album of the Year, it was also used in the promotion of the fourth season of the popular TVN series – “Druga Szansa”.
