Alexander Hacke & Danielle de Picciotto
For years, Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto have formed a truly original duo, combining different aesthetics and music styles. Their art boldly moves beyond music because the artists draw inspiration from literature, visual arts, poetry as well as nature sounds and images. Both are real legends of independent European culture. Danielle is an American who in 1987 moved to Berlin which at the time was at a turning point, facing artistic revolution about to sweep over the city. Besides playing the violin and piano, Danielle also specialises in unusual, unique instruments such as the hurdy gurdy or the autoharp. She has been a member of many bands, such as Crime & The City Solution or Space Cowboys. She also co-founded the first editions of Love Parade in Berlin. Alexander Hacke is known most of all as founding member and bass player of the legendary Einstürzende Neubauten. This band, fundamental for the avant-garde music scene, performed at Different Sounds in 2015. Now, the time has come for the artist to return in a much more intimate and cosy project. In Lublin, the duo will present material from their newest album – “Mentekel”, but pieces from the earlier “Perseverantia” are also likely to appear.
