In November, Different Sounds Zones presents a solid dose of electronic music courtesy of Mirt. On Friday evening at Workshops of Culture, we will have an opportunity to hear songs from his latest album “Greed”. Still, older compositions of this very expressive and productive artist will also appear. Tomasz Mirt is one of the most exciting personalities in the Polish electronic music scene, a tireless explorer of sounds and images, a musician, graphic designer, field recording artist, designer and publisher. He will appear solo in Lublin for the first time, which is all the more reason why this concert is not to be missed.

Mirt – Tomek Mirt used to play football using wild apples with his colleagues on the studio’s rooftop, used his phone to record information of Mazowieckie Voivodship Crisis Management Centre and blocked keys in the synthesizer with a cable to make it emit endless sounds. This is how albums for bands such as Brasil and Gallowbrothers came to be. Then he painted and put together covers in his label catsun and continued to do it in MonotypeRec. At the same time, he started recording entry phones and connect synthesizer modules with cables to have material for solo albums. The result is a combination of ambient, soundtrack, techno and perhaps something more. Once in a Thai jungle, he recorded rain for too long, and as a result, he created Saamleng – a record label that releases only field recordings. He didn’t have modules to record subsequent solo CDs, so he started making them with friends, establishing Xaoc Devices. He has published so many CDs, vinyl records and cassettes in regular and made-up companies that he no longer knows how many have there been and which of them matter. He has even released a floppy disk. He has performed at many festivals with different people, and many people have written about him. He has also recorded music for a famous series, but not alone. He has also released a new album entitled “Greed” and second, with field recordings “Tristes Tropiques”.
The concert is part of the project “Słuchanie miasta- warsztaty edukacji dźwiękowej” (Listening to the city – audio education workshops). The project is co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from Culture Promotion Fund.

Different Sounds Zone is a cycle of concerts featuring original performers, most exciting independent record labels and a variety of musical genres and their arresting combinations. This cycle is a continuation of the summer festival East of Culture- Different Sounds and allows us to abandon musical routine and experience new sounds.
