Different Sounds Zone ends 2018 with the concert of the group Tęskno. The band, formed by Joanna Longić and Hania Rani, is one of the biggest revelations of Polish contemporary scene. Sublime, atmospheric sounds, interesting lyrics and skillful combinations of classic and contemporary electronic music make Tęsknoty a success. Their concert is the perfect closer to the year of music at Different Sounds Zone. More music coming in 2019.

The band:

“Tęskno” is a project of the vocalist Joanna Longić and the pianist Hania Rani. It consists of songs with original Polish lyrics and music which evades the division into familiar genres and styles, combining accoustic and modern sounds. The project officially debuted in May 2017, but things kicked off a year earlier when they arranged Mela Koteluk’s song, “Fastrygi”, which was enthusiastically received both by the listeners and the artist herself. The portal Brand New Anthem also hailed the band one of the most promising projects of 2018. They describe this female duo as “two individualities who form a completely new being together – a being which is complete and affecting”. After only a year of activity, they have performed at Open’er, Slot Art Festival or Transatalntyk Festival and their club concerts are fully booked. Tęskno’s debut album, “Mi” for which the band collected over 20,000 pln thanks to crowdfunding, took place on 9 November. The album has been released by PIAS Poland.

Reviews:

“Their journey is only beginning, but it’s already very promising. It’s emotional and soothing. Enthusiasts of contemporary classic music with elements of ambitious electronic music should watch out for them” Red Bull Muzyka.

“Tęskno is a new, joint project of two independent talents of enormous sensitivity. They have just emerged, completely unannounced. Hania Rani, known for arranging Grzegorz Ciechowski’s songs, and Joanna Longić, associated with the bolod cover of Mela Koteluk’s Fastrygi, invite us into their universe, in which pop fuses with classic music, lyricism with the epic and all this is bespeckled with stylish images”.
