Andriy Bondar (b.1974 in Kamianets-Podilskyi) – Ukrainian prose writer, poet, columnist, translator and philologist. In the years 1988-2000 he served as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Literature Plus”, between 2000-2001 he was the deputy editor of the magazine “Eva” and from 2001-2007 the editor of the literary section in a popular Ukrainian Weekly (“Дзеркало тижня”). He’s an author of three poetry collections (his poems have been translated into English, Belarusian, Croatian, German, French, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian and Swedish) and of many literary studies and translations. His translations into Ukrainian include, among others, Witold Gombrowicz’s “Ferdydurke” and “Trans-atlantyk”, Marek Hłasko’s “Pretty Twenty-Year-Olds” and Mrożek’s short stories. So far, he has had two books published in the Polish language, namely the collection of poetry “Jogging” (2005) and a collection of essays “Important and Unimportant Stories” (2011). Bondar is married to the writer Sofia Andrukhovych.
