Opening of the Exhibition: Bootleg. Silesian hip-hop 1993–2003 – exhibition

In the world of hip hop, culture based on remake, samples and borrowings created a unique visual sphere. The independent material culture, a result of a fusion of individual skills and talents, but limited by technical capability.

Hip-hop has dominated contemporary culture, becoming a culture-forming phenomenon of the last 35 years. This domination is not limited to music – a clear influence can be seen in fashion, film, design or politics. It has resulted in a phenomenon that begs for an experiment.

That is the exhibition “Bootleg. Silesian hip-hop 1993–2003”, where we will make original reinterpretations of the products of hip-hop culture. We will look at them again, suggesting (non)obvious solutions, once outside imagination. We will ask the question: what would happen if hip-hop happened today?
