The final headliner for the East of Culture – Different Sounds Art’n’Music Festival is an absolute legend of British alternative music, UK Subs. These punk rock pioneers, mentioned alongside such household names as The Clash, Sex Pistols or The Stranglers, are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. The band, founded and led by Charlie Harper since 1976, still defines the power and popularity of the genre.
UK Subs have recoded 26 albums which means the band has managed to fulfil their ambitious goals and principles that guided them from the beginning. That is, to have their albums start with consecutive letters of the alphabet- from the cult “Another Kind of Blues” to the recent “Ziezo” released this year. Consistency and following their own art are the band’s trademark. Time passes, new music styles and trends come and go but UK Subs remains and continues to offer high quality.
New generations of fans are brought up with their music, and their live concerts are legendary. Their hits, such as “Riot”, “Warhead” or “Down the Farm” (covered, among others, by Guns’n’Roses) have entered the canon of punk rock.
Nowadays, UK Subs is a band-institution, performing concerts on all continents at the largest festivals (this summer, e.g. at the French Hellfest or UK Rebellion Festival) snd in cult clubs. The upcoming East of Culture – Different Sounds Festival is the perfect opportunity to see a music legend live in Lublin.
