Variété + Neda Malūnavičiūtė + Jan Maksimovič
A special Polish-Lithuanian cooperation which is likely to be one of the most fascinating projects during this year’s edition of the East of Culture – Different Sounds Festival. Variété is a new wave band created in 1983 and one of the absolute legends and precursors of the genre in Poland. Grzegorz Kazmierczak has been the lead singer and lyricist of the group from the very beginning. The band has released seven albums, and the latest, „Piosenki kolonistów”, was published in 2013 and gathered very enthusiastic reviews. For their newest project, the artists invited eminent representatives of the Lithuanian jazz scene. The combination of Variété’s trance, modern music with the poetry of Grzegorz Kazmierczak and the jazz flavour introduced by the flutist and singer Neda Malūnavičiūtė and saxophonist Jan Maksimovič produce a truly unique effect. The Polish-Lithuanian project guarantees an astounding performance, richness of sounds and contexts and a tremendous added value of this artistic meeting.
