Wczasy
Polish alternative music has been enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years. New artists keep emerging and dynamic, independent labels release dozens of excellent albums. Among them we can certainly rank the album “Zawody” by the highly original duet Wczasy, released by Thin Man Records. In this project, the artists from Gorzów Wielkopolski and Olsztyn, currently based in Poznan, combine electro, synth pop, disco, punk, new romantic and probably just as many other genres and inspirations. This fusion of styles is accompanied by mood swings because on the one hand Wczasy serve the listeners a lot of fun and surreal humour only to hit more serious notes a moment later. This year’s East of Culture – Different Sounds features a lot of references to the atmosphere of the 1980s and 1990s, among others thanks to its retro-style visual identification. Wczasy perfectly fit this idea with their drum machines and analogue synthesizers. Their concert ending this year’s edition of our festival will be, then, the perfect closer and a guarantee of great fun for the most tenacious attendees of Different Sounds.
