Move East Movie: Children from the Hotel America

A classic Lithuanian film, telling the story  of several young people and their teenage rebellion in Kaunas of the 1970s. They share a love for rock’n’roll, a desire for freedom and the eponymous,  building of the Hotel America where they all live.  Naivety and chasing dreams are quickly confronted with the merciless communist regime. The eponymous children from the Hotel America  are about to get into trouble for one night spent in the forest, where they have tried to stage their own version of Woodstock.

Raimundas Banionis – born in 1957 in Panevezys in Lithuania. In 1981 he graduated from Vgik – All-Union State Institute of Cinematography, where he had studied directing in the masterclass of Lev Kulidhanov and Tatjana Liosnova. In the 1980, Raimundas worked as a film director in Lithuanian Film Studio, and in 1991 he joined the private film company “Litnek”, where he directs and produces feature films, documentaries, TV programmes and commercials.
